The Edgar Allan Poe House and Museum features the life of one of the most prominent literary figures of the 19th century. In 1941 the Edgar Allan Poe Society of Baltimore saved Edgar Allan Poe’s home from demolition. Since it’s restoration, this 2-½ story brick duplex has been open to the public and maintained by the Commission for Historic and Architectural Preservation. During a visit to the museum, you’ll see a number of Edgar Allan Poe’s personal items plus a series of videos on his tragic life and literary career. Many believe some of his most famous stories and poems were written in this house like “the Visionary,” “Morella,” and “Latin Hymn.”
Halloween at the Poe House and the Edgar Allan Poe Birthday Celebration are two of the most popular events held at the Edgar Allan Poe House and Museum.
